Harborview Medical Center has an outstanding opportunity for APP (ARNP or PA) with the Flex-Cardiac Critical Care Services. Work Schedule 90% FTE, Days (36 hours per week); and with some nights, week-ends, and holidays. Supervision The APP (Advanced Practice Provider), ARNP or PA, will work under the supervision of the Attending Physician on service and work collaboratively with physicians in post-graduate training programs (i.e., residents and fellows in Cardiovascular Medicine and Critical Care Medicine). The Flex-Cardiac Critical Care (FC3) service is an APP-led, attending physician–supervised model that focuses primarily on critical care cardiology in collaboration with cardiologists, with ICU overflow as a secondary function. Patient Population Critically ill patients with complex cardiovascular and medical conditions, including but not limited to: Acute decompensated heart failure, cardiogenic shock, and mechanical circulatory support (e.g., balloon pump, Impella, ECMO/ECLS) Acute coronary syndromes, post-cardiac arrest care, and serious cardiac arrhythmias Respiratory failure requiring mechanical ventilation or non-invasive respiratory support Sepsis, multi-organ dysfunction, trauma, brain injury, and other critical medical conditions (MICU overflow)Patients requiring advanced hemodynamic monitoring (e.g., pulmonary artery catheters) Responsibilities Note: responsibilities may evolve over time depending on the needs of the service, demand in other critical care services, and outreach roles. Overview Job Duties An Advanced Practice Provider V (APP V) is a direct patient care provider licensed in the State of Florida and/or Georgia and provides medical services to patients as defined by their scope of practice and under the supervision of a physician licensed to practice medicine in the State of Florida/Georgia. Responsibilities Essential Functions • Endoscopic saphenous vein harvesting GSV, open vein harvest, GSV and LSV, radial artery harvest, open and endoscopically, open femoral artery/vein cannulation for bypass. • Invasive monitoring and placement of arterial and central venous lines, insertion and removal of thoracostomy tubes, insertion of central lines, including Swan-Ganz catheters, TLC, insertion and removal of IABP, removal of temporary pacer wires, insertion of arterial lines, NG/OG tube insertion, insertion of foley catheters, 1st assistant techniques. • Assesses patient health status including state of wellness, compliance with care plan and determines appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. May perform those routine medical treatments and diagnostic procedures for which they are qualified to perform by training and which fall within the normal scope of practice of the supervising physician. • Performance of histories and physical exams, pre and postoperative patient care, critical care, daily progress notes, obtain surgical consent, patient education, and discharge summaries. • Patient care in ICU including advanced knowledge of hemodynamic management, ventilators, and artificial cardiac devices. • First assist in surgery in all cardiac, thoracic and vascular procedures. Recognize serious, life-threatening emergencies, evaluate them appropriately and ensure patient receives prompt care to stabilize.
