Job Responsibility Description Student Support and Service Delivery Provide direct nursing services to medically complex students on an Individualized Education Program (IEP), Section 504 Plan, and health care plan. Perform nursing assessments, implement care plans, and deliver prescribed medical procedures including, but not limited to: Tube feedings and G-tube care Transfers and positioning Blood glucose monitoring and insulin administration Pulse oximetry and oxygen administration Airway assessment and management, suctioning and Tracheostomy care Seizure monitoring and care, including emergency seizure medication, VNS, and RNS Catheterizations, toileting, hygiene, and diapering Medication administration and emergency interventions Monitor student health status and respond promptly to medical needs, emergencies, or changes in condition. Implement and maintain Individualized Healthcare Plans (IHPs) and Emergency Care Plans (ECPs) tailored to the student's unique health profile. Ensure student safety and dignity during all nursing care and educational participation. Accompany the assigned student at all times on district premises and during transportation, field trips, or extracurricular programs to provide continuous care and emergency readiness. Follow medical orders, district policy, and the Colorado Nurse Practice Act when performing or delegating care. Collaboration and Communication Collaborate with Integrated Services teams, school nurses, teachers, and support staff to ensure consistent implementation of care across all environments. Partner with families to promote open communication and alignment between home and school health management. Consult and coordinate with medical providers to ensure care plans are accurate, current, and comprehensive. Participate in IEP, 504, and multidisciplinary meetings to share medical information and support educational planning. Communicate daily with parents/guardians and school personnel regarding student status, health events, and interventions. Provide input to enhance accessibility, inclusion, and participation for medically complex students. Documentation and Compliance Maintain accurate and confidential student health records in compliance with state laws, district policies, and HIPAA/FERPA guidelines. Ensure compliance with state immunization laws and district health requirements. Complete Medicaid billing and required reporting using designated systems. Ensure all medical equipment, supplies, and documentation are prepared and maintained for student use throughout the school day. Other Duties Provide general nursing support or coverage within the district when the assigned student is absent or when medically appropriate, as directed by the Coordinator of Nursing/Health Services or supervising nurse.
