Tracks and trends survey charts and other data sources and provides periodic reports. Monitors quality management practices on the unit including Nursing Standards and Practices, competencies and accreditation of staff. Collaborates with staff, physicians, administration and risk management to evaluate and improve patient services. Responsible for tracking the effectiveness of unit policies and procedures and assisting the Manager in policy development or revision. Develops and evaluates staff activities to promote knowledge of all rules, regulations, policies, procedures, laws and guidelines that impact the unit and ensures compliance. Educates patients and families on rules and regulations and updates procedure manuals. Responsible for a collaborative work team to ensure positive working relationships. Communicates effectively with physicians, students, and other departments such as Respiratory Therapy, Pharmacy, Property and Linen Services. Maintains good communication with other hospitals, government or regulatory agencies and community representatives. Responsible for effective facility management as measured by cleanliness, proper type, amount and functioning of equipment and overall environmental safety. Oversees timely and effective maintenance of equipment and rooms. Assists in developing and administering the annual operating, capital and payroll budget to ensure that the unit has the necessary funds to carry out established goals and objectives. Monitors charges and supplies, initiates orders and supervises capital improvements. Assists management in developing annual goals and objectives for the unit that reflect the mission and philosophy of Parkland and meet department goals. Overview POSITION SUMMARY: The Primary Charge Nurse-Inpatient/ED assists in overseeing and directing work of nursing personnel engaging in providing patient/nursing care services on assigned shifts, according to departmental policies and nursing care standards. Demonstrates accountability for ensuring safe, high quality patient care, enhances the patient /family experience, and provides effective leadership contributing to the delivery of the organization's objectives. Determines work priorities, prepares daily work assignments, and serves as a resource person for unit personnel in resolving operational and patient care problems. The RN Hospital Inpatient/ED operates in units that provide 24/7 care in the hospital. Qualifications REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Associates in ​Nursing. Bachelor's Degree in Nursing must be obtained within 3 years of date of hire into role. Licenses/Certifications: RN-Registered Nurse. BLS and ACLS, PALS, or other certification as required by unit. Other skills/knowledge: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Strong analytical and problem solving skills, with the ability to be detail oriented. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing. Experience: 2 years of experience on the unit or similar unit. License/Certifications: Certification in area of specialty.
