Develops care plan that demonstrate knowledge of criteria to ascertain resident specific needs based on health care problem(s). Makes needed revisions and updates to the care plans. Ensures that care plan is carried out which demonstrates familiarity with criteria to establish priorities specific to anticipated outcomes. Monitors the provision of care for the residents in his/her assigned unit. Interprets philosophy and objectives of nursing service to residents, families and others. Identifies resident/family learning needs based on the discharge care plan as applicable and carries out appropriate teaching required. Demonstrates ability to coordinate and collaborate with resident/family and other members of the comprehensive health care team. Monitors the administration and accurate recording of medications used. Investigates and follow through on medication errors. Notifies physicians of pertinent observations and reactions, incident and abnormal laboratory and x-ray results as required and documents same promptly. Transcribes physician orders timely and ensure orders are implemented as appropriate. Reports all resident, visitor and work-related accidents/injuries and demonstrates appropriate follow through by investigating, documenting and processing incident reports. Accepts guidance, supervision, and criticism if needed. Practices in compliance with the Nurse Practice Act and regulatory agencies regulations. Assures that a stock level of medications, medical supplies, equipment, etc. are maintained at adequate levels at all times. Assume the authority, responsibility and accountability of directing your nursing shifts. Other responsibilities as deemed necessary and appropriate or as may be directed by the Director of Nursing Services or Administrator. Job Summary This position is a 12-week internship program which prepares the new Graduate Nurse for a Registered Nurse position on a general care pediatric unit. Orientation includes a combination of educational sessions and precepted bedside clinical experience. A two (2) year commitment with a minimum of 30 hours/week (0.75 FTR) is required for candidates hired through the internship program. Education will be provided in a group and unit-based settings. Precepted bedside experience will occur on the onboarding unit. This posting will be used to hire two graduate nurse internship positions in the pediatric Hematology/Oncology unit. This internship will have a start date of February, 2027 Flexibility will be available for hours to range from 32-40 hours per week. Brief Descriptions Of The Unit Below 7 East population ranges in age from newborn to young adulthood. The diagnoses range from hematological disorders, such as chronic granulomatous disease and sickle cell anemia, to oncological disorders including leukemia, lymphoma, and solid tumor. 7 East Mott's Bone Marrow Transplant program does 40-50 autologous, cord, allogenic and unrelated transplants a year. 7 East is a 32 bed unit that has all HEPA filtered private rooms and some positive pressure rooms to protect our immunocompromised patients. Expectations Of Position Requirements of the Commission on Cancer Certification must be met within the triannual certification window proportionate to hire or transfer to the oncology area, details provided by leadership.
