Position Status: Shift: Other (United States of America) Hours per week: 0 Job Information Exemption Status: Non-Exempt A Brief Overview Electrophysiology nursing is a specialty within the nursing profession that encompasses the care of individuals across the life span who are undergoing cardiac procedures. Electrophysiology nursing incorporates the intra procedure care in which the nurse will use a comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach to patient care. Electrophysiology nurses have been trained in procedure and nursing process to include strict adherence to the procedural safety, sterility, sedation management, assistance to Anesthesia services, airway management, and pain management. The electrophysiology nurse will educate patients about the procedure. The delivery of professional nursing care at Stormont Vail Health is guided by Jean Watson's Theory of Human Caring and the theory of Shared governance, both of which are congruent with the mission, vision, and values of the organization. Education Qualifications Bachelor's Degree Bachelors of Science: Nursing (BSN) Preferred Associate's Degree Associates degree or ADN in EP lab for CMS/CLIA requirements Required or Experience Qualifications 2 years Prior electrophysiology/procedure, acute care background in ICU and/or ED Preferred Skills and Abilities Demonstrates awareness and sensitivity to rights of patient/significant other, as identified within the institution. The major specialties treated in this ICU are Trauma Surgery, Transplant Surgery, Acute Care Surgery, and Oncologic Surgery. As the region’s only adult Level 1 trauma center, the SICU is always ready to receive any critical trauma patient requiring resuscitation and specialized nursing care. We have a variety of solid organ transplant recipients, including liver, kidney-pancreas, and kidney transplants. We care for complex oncologic, hepatobiliary, and general surgery patients who are referred from across the country.
