Job Details APP- NP or PA – Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit (CTICU) FT – varied shifts (am and pm combined shifts) Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join our Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit (CTICU) team in a renowned hospital in New York. This position offers an opportunity to work with critically ill patients undergoing cardiothoracic surgeries and to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of intensivists, cardiologists, surgeons, nurses, and respiratory therapists. Key Responsibilities: • Patient Assessment & Management: o Perform thorough assessments of critically ill cardiothoracic patients, including history, physical exams, and ongoing evaluations. o Order and interpret diagnostic tests, imaging, and lab results. o Develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans for patients in collaboration with the attending physicians and healthcare team. o Provide continuous monitoring and management of complex cases, including post-operative recovery, ventilation support, and hemodynamic management. • Procedural Support: o When complex privileging is obtained the ability to peform central line placement, arterial line insertion, intubation/extubation, chest tube placement . o Provide post-procedure care and patient education, ensuring proper recovery and addressing potential complications. • Collaboration & Communication: o Work closely with attending cardiothoracic surgeons, intensivists, and nursing staff to ensure optimal patient care. o Communicate effectively with patients and families, providing education and support regarding treatment plans, recovery, and discharge processes. o Attend daily rounds to discuss patient progress, concerns, and updates. • Clinical Leadership & Education: o Serve as a mentor and resource for nursing staff, residents, and fellows, providing guidance and education on clinical practices within the CTICU. o Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to clinical research efforts within the unit. o Stay current with advancements in critical care medicine, particularly cardiothoracic care, and engage in continuing education. Qualifications: • Education & Experience: o Master’s degree in Nursing (MSN), Physician Assistant (PA), or equivalent advanced practice provider (APP) qualification. o Board certification as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) in Acute Care. This position provides specialized care for women with pelvic floor disorders, including urinary incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, voiding dysfunction, recurrent urinary tract infections, and other urogynecologic conditions. The schedule is Monday-Friday, 4x10 hours shifts with one day off during the week. No weekend and no Holiday obligations. Position Summary This position is accountable for advanced clinical practice in the care of patients with urogynecologic conditions. Responsibilities include obtaining and analyzing patient histories, performing comprehensive assessments, developing and implementing treatment plans, coordinating care, and collaborating with physicians and interdisciplinary team members to achieve optimal patient outcomes. The APP will: Evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients with pelvic floor and lower urinary tract disorders. Perform comprehensive histories and physical examinations.
