Job Description Registered Nurse (RN -CN 1), Night Shift, Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) ONA 2 CCP- Surgical/Trauma Intensive Care Unit (SICU) – 34-bed unit The Surgical/Trauma Intensive Care Unit is a 34-bed unit specializing in the complex care of adult patients requiring surgical interventions. The major specialties treated in this ICU are Trauma Surgery, Transplant Surgery, Acute Care Surgery, and Oncologic Surgery. As the region’s only adult Level 1 trauma center, the SICU is always ready to receive any critical trauma patient requiring resuscitation and specialized nursing care. We have a variety of solid organ transplant recipients, including liver, kidney-pancreas, and kidney transplants. We care for complex oncologic, hepatobiliary, and general surgery patients who are referred from across the country. The majority of our patient population is in critical condition, with most patients generally stabilizing within 24-48 hours following admission. Patient care focuses on stabilizing cardio-pulmonary functioning, maintaining adequate circulatory volume and perfusion, preserving the patient’s protective mechanisms, and controlling pain. Our fast-paced SICU receives 5-8 admissions daily from the OR and ER. Once a patient has met standard criterion, they transfer to Phase II and are dismissed the same day or transfer to an inpatient unit for further observation. Parents are provided written and verbal instructions on the care of their child and post-operative teaching is completed. Job Summary As a Pre-admission testing nurse or PAT nurse, your duties include overseeing intake, during which you perform an initial physical assessment and interview the patient to obtain their medical history. You also perform any tests the surgeon has ordered, such as an EKG, and you may be expected to draw blood for lab work. MDS Coordinator

Maintain and periodically update written facility policies and procedures that govern the development, use and implementation of the Resident Assessment Instrument (RAI)/Minimum Data Set (MDS) and care plan. Develop, implement and maintain an ongoing quality assurance and performance improvement (QAPI) program for the resident assessment/care plans. Ensure that a current copy of the RAI Manual is available to persons completing portions of the MDS. Monitor the MDS website and portal for up-to-date changes in the RAI manual monthly; distribute changes in the RAI manual to the IDT as needed. Review quality measures reports monthly and make recommendations to the QAPI Committee. Complete electronic submission of required documentation to the state database and other entities in accordance with facility policies. Conduct and coordinate the completion and submission of MDS within the required timeframe. Submit and monitor the nursing home final validation report to verify assessment submission. Transmit MDS to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) information system for each resident contained in the MDS in a format that conforms to current formatting standards within the prescribed time frames.
