Our CT/X-ray technologist images our inpatient, outpatient, and emergency room patients for x-rays and CT scans. Licensure : Nebraska state Medical Radiographer license- required. ARRT (R) -required, (CT) -preferred. Certification : Basic Life Support (BLS) -required. Experience : 1+ year of experience in a hospital CT department- required. Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Performs quality CT and X-ray exams, acquiring necessary images for interpretation by a supervising radiologist. Responsible for starting IVs on patients requiring contrast. Knowledge and understanding of general anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology. Ability to effectively interact and communicate with patients, physicians, and other team members in a collaborative and professional manner. Essential Job Functions Call in on-call staff when necessary. Perform safety evaluations on the CT and Radiology equipment following established policies and procedures to detect problems. Assess the ability of the patient to comply with the physical requirements of the exam. Ability to clearly communicate directions with the patient to get the exam completed with optimal images obtained. Attend and participate in department meetings. Participate in annual performance improvement education. Ability to manage and interact with patients and families of all age groups. Able to perform independently or as a team to complete a variety of exams in a fast-paced environment. Able to accurately screen and document patient's history prior to contrast administration. Able to screen imaging orders to ensure accuracy. Responsible for all other duties as assigned. Physical requirements: This position is classified as Medium Work in the Dictionary of Occupational Titles, requiring the exertion of up to 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
