SUMMARY The Registered Nurse is a professional who assumes responsibility for providing and supervising the delivery of quality patient care within the framework of Anderson Healthcare. Explains procedures and treatments to patient to gain cooperation, understanding, and reduce apprehension. 2. Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques. 3. Prepares equipment and assists provider during treatment and examination of patient. 4. Able to initiate and manage a Code C situation. 5. Able to interpret EKG recordings and has the knowledge to monitor and intervene during both stable and life-threatening arrhythmias. 6. Able to recognize, assist, maintain, and troubleshoot a patient requiring ventilatory measures. 7. Maintains valid ACLS certification as required by Community Memorial Hospital. 8. Maintains awareness of comfort and safety needs of patients and visitors. 9. Observes patient and documents change in condition, adverse reactions, and any required reportable incidents. Notifies the supervisor and provider of change in patient’s condition, adverse reaction, or reportable incident. 10. Takes patient’s temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and other vital signs to detect deviations from normal and assess condition of patient as ordered by provider and as needed for change in condition. 11. Responds to life saving situations based upon nursing standards, policies, procedures, and protocol. 12. Accurately documents nursing history and physical assessment for assigned patients. 13. Initiates a patient education plan according to the individualized needs of the patient, as prescribed by Physician and/or hospital policy including patient and family instructions. 14. Demonstrates knowledge and principles of PI (performance improvement plan) and application of systematic improvement process. 15. Provides care in the Pain Management environment directed toward meeting both psychosocial and physical needs of the patient. Functions as a resource person and teacher. Proficient in pain management guidelines and medication dosing. 16. Demonstrates professionalism regarding dress code and personal hygiene. 17. Demonstrates a concern to others, takes time to illustrate care and understanding, exemplifies expected behaviors, promotes team concepts, and actively contributes toward conflict resolution. 18. Provides emotional and psychological support to patients and their families. Orthopedics RN: Provides specialized care for patients with musculoskeletal conditions, injuries, and diseases. Provides care for Orthopedic patients encompassing pre-operative and post-operative care. Conducts peripheral/vascular assessments. Treats patients with immobilization devices. Provides pain management. Provides patient education. PACU RN: Assesses the patient's level of consciousness and responsiveness as they wake up from anesthesia. Evaluates pain levels and administers pain medications as prescribed. Observes any side effects of anesthesia, such as nausea, vomiting, shivering, or muscle aches. Monitors for and respond to any post-operative complications. Administers medications, including pain relievers and other post-operative medications, as prescribed. Regulates intravenous (IV) fluids and monitor fluid balance. Checks and changes dressings on surgical wounds. Ensures a clear airway and provide oxygen support as needed. Educates patients and families about post-surgery care, potential complications, and discharge instructions. NICU RN: Continuously assesses and monitors vital signs (heart rate, respiratory rate, blood pressure, oxygen saturation) and other signs of distress. Administers prescribed medications, intravenous fluids, and other treatments, including respiratory support and oxygen therapy. Manages feeding needs, including tube, breast milk feeding support, and ensuring adequate nutrition. Provides basic care tasks like diaper changes, bathing, and positioning. Performs procedures like inserting IV lines, administering medications, and assisting with intubation or ventilation. Operates and adjusts specialized medical equipment used in the NICU. Telemetry RN: Using telemetry equipment to track heart rhythms (EKG), blood pressure, oxygen saturation, and other vital signs. Analyzes telemetry data to identify trends, abnormalities, and potential problems, and reports these findings to physicians. Provides direct patient care, including medication administration, wound care, and patient education, with a focus on cardiac health.
