Job Summary: The Assistant Nurse Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of assigned nursing area(s) in order to facilitate and deliver comprehensive quality nursing care and to manage the environment in which care is given. The Assistant Nurse Manager prioritizes tasks for nursing staff, resolves staffing issues and problems, assists with goals, planning, customer service, standards, certification and accreditation, administrative and budget management, personnel resource management, communication, and quality activities. Ensures adherence to hospital or department and university policies and to nursing policies, procedures, standards, and practices. The Assistant Nurse Manager functions on the off-shift in the inpatient setting; in other areas the ANM shift is based on operational needs. The Assistant Nurse Manager exemplifies the Upstate mission, vision, and values and acts in accordance with Upstate policies and procedures. Minimum Qualifications: NYS Licensed/Registered (or eligible) RN and Bachelors degree or Masters degree in Nursing required. Two years of post-licensure acute care RN experience (preferably in a specialty area) is required. Excellent written/oral communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills required. American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Professional Level CPR BLS required by time of appointment. Preferred Qualifications: Nursing Leadership certification and prior leadership experience are strongly preferred. ACLS preferred or acquired within 3 months of hire. As an Full Time Inpatient Nurse Tech, you will work 7a-7p, including one Saturday a month. This position will work Monday - Friday the first week of employment, 8-hour day shifts. The Nurse Technician holds a safety sensitive position and is a competent paraprofessional which assists the registered nurses by assuming responsibility and accountability for direct and indirect patient care. He/she may assist with activities, personal care, comfort measures, maintenance of a safe and clean environment, and certain test/procedures done to a specific patient population (dependent on area) under the direction and supervision of a RN. Supports the nursing and medical staff in an effort to provide optimum patient outcomes. What’s required of you? High school graduate or equivalent. Maintains current competency as a Nurse Technician as outlined in the department’s competency program. Basic Life Support certification prior to start date, or class to be taken at OSH within 60 days free of charge. Occupational Experience: Zero to six months prior to experience as a Nurse Aide in a healthcare environment, or completion of a Nurse Aide or EMT training program preferred. Specialty Knowledge Skills: Cognitive, technical and interpersonal skills required to deliver direct and indirect care under the direction of a RN. Cooperation and strong “team” focus required.
