Distinguishing Characteristics: The Correctional Vocational Nurse I is distinguished from the Correctional Vocational Nurse II by the latter’s completion of a course approved by the nurse board certifying the individual to start peripheral intravenous infusions. Correctional Vocational Nurse II’s must have one (1) year of applicable experience in correctional medicine in lieu of intravenous infusion certification. Promotions within the series are considered on a merit basis when recommended by the Department Head and approved by the Director of Human Resources. Essential Functions: Performs responsible patient care functions utilizing broad knowledge in the techniques, methods, procedures and equipment required in support of the registered nurse and medical staff in patient treatment. Performs general nursing care in a correctional setting; takes and records temperature, pulse and respiration. Observes and keeps records and reports unusual conditions or behaviors. Participates in the development of nursing care plans. Maintains records reflecting patient’s condition, medication, and treatment. Prepares patients for examinations and treatments. Administers special diets and treatments as prescribed. Gives medications if certified. Assists staff with dressings. Maintains confidentiality as prescribed in regulation (Title 15, HIPAA, and the Penal Code). Other Functions : Performs other job-related duties as required. Supplemental: Applicants will be required to pass an extensive background check and be fingerprinted as they must possess and maintain clearance to be employed in Kern County correction facilities. Felony convictions will be disqualifying and convictions for misdemeanors and traffic offenses will be assess on a case-by-case basis. A background check may be required for this classification. Position Details: Our company is continuing to grow and we're looking for Per Diem Infusion RNs to support our centers throughout Arizona . This is an ongoing, as-needed role. You will be contacted when a center has a need for additional PRNs to provide coverage. Below is a list of our centers: Scottsdale Phoenix What We Offer: Competitive hourly pay between $50- $55 , with variations based on experience and expertise. Qualifications: Graduate of an accredited School of Professional Nursing. Associate Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred. Minimum of 3 years of recent clinical RN experience in ICU, ER, or similar high-acuity settings. Infusion experience preferred, but we are willing to train the right candidate. Valid RN License. Current American Heart Association BLS or ACLS/PALS certification. Skills and Abilities: Proficient in Electronic Medical Records (EMR). Computer literacy, including proficiency in Word, Excel, and Outlook. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Excellent interpersonal skills for team collaboration and patient interaction. Recent IV experience. Essential Functions: Welcome patients and escort them to their private infusion rooms. Educate patients about their treatments and address any concerns about adverse reactions. Administer prescribed medications and establish IV access, including central lines. Monitor and document patients' conditions and responses to treatments. Ensure accurate and timely EMR documentation. Maintain the flow of patient care and manage emergency situations calmly and effectively. Keep infusion rooms clean and well-stocked. Answer phone calls as needed, adhering to OSHA and HIPAA guidelines. Summary GENERAL SUMMARY The RN - O/P Staff Nurse plans, provides, and monitors individualized nursing care in response to specific patient needs within a defined scope of practice in either PACU/Day Surgery or the Operating Room (OR). Provides developmentally appropriate psychosocial and clinical care respective to the assigned patient population. Reports to department management. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Provides developmentally appropriate psychosocial and clinical care. Plans, provides, and monitors specific patient needs following established policies, procedures, and regulations. Participates in on-going quality assurance, maintains regulatory requirements, and assists in establishing and updating applicable policies and procedures. Performs other duties as assigned. LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS Current Virginia state license as a Registered Nurse or Registered Nurse holding a valid Compact State license. MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Associates in Nursing / Diploma in Nursing with applicable experience required. BSN is preferred. OR experience is required. RN certification preferred. Pediatric experience preferred. PALS and ACLS required within one year of hire. CPR Training required and/or must be obtained within 45 days of hire. WORKING CONDITIONS Expected to work in a patient care environment with minimal exposure to environmental hazards such as, but not limited to, excessive noise, dust, or extremes in temperatures. Exposure to communicable diseases and moderately adverse working conditions due to the need to perform certain patient care activities can be expected.
