We care for newborn infants to young adult patients with diagnoses that range from medical/surgical patients and orthopedic surgeries including scoliosis, fractures and congenital repairs to cranial surgeries, diabetics, transfers from Nursery ICU (for home transition teaching) and the Mother/Baby Unit. All nursing staff is PALS certified and take an EKG class. Parents are allowed to be in the room 24/7. We round bedside with an interdisciplinary team: physicians, nursing, social work, case management, pharmacy, and other ancillary departments. We believe and live: family centered care! The ratio is 1 RN to 5-6 patients with PCT support as a part of this team. Summary Coordinates patient care planning with other disciplines utilizing the principles of the nursing process and critical thinking skills in order to maintain patient safety and well-being. Essential Functions Provides direct patient care, evaluates outcomes, consults with other specialists as required and adjusts nursing care processes as indicated to ensure safe patient care.
