Director Nursing Systems - Mount Sinai West - Full Time - Day Shift

Description Accountable for the coordination and implementation of the Nursing Department payroll and other administrative systems, for ensuring appropriate office procedures and resources are utilized as well as provision of staff training. Responsibilities Develops procedures and administrative systems to ensure the accuracy and integrity of nursing services data such as systems documentation, management of records and processing of records. Collaborates with the Information and Technology Department to facilitate the design and implementation of nursing services systems to support its policies, standards and objectives. Documents nursing competencies and educational levels and ensures consistency of information disseminated to regulatory agencies. Collaborates with other departments to ensure the effective and efficient coordination of nursing services systems. Provides information system materials as needed for specialty units, research and/or for reporting patient care and nursing practices. Conducts in-service educational sessions for nursing and administrative staffs in the appropriate use of new and existing hospital systems. Provides information support services as needed. Assesses the capability of current system and compares with outside vendor software to improve current internal systems and procedures. Assists in the development of the office administrative budget; manages and monitors budget expenditures for office services. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Business or a related field required, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience; Master’s degree highly preferred. Minimum of 7 years of experience in office systems and/or operations management, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role. Experience working in a healthcare or hospital environment preferred. Minimum of 2 years of budgeting experience. Minimum of 2 years of payroll experience Proficiency in Microsoft Excel required. The Main OR has 14 Operating Rooms that include: 2 Endovascular rooms, 2 Open Heart rooms , 1 Cysto room, 1 da Vinci Robot room , and 1 Pediatric room. Services include: General Surgery (Adult and Peds), ENT (Adult and Peds), Urology (Adult and Peds), Vascular, Thoracic, Heart, Neuro, Podiatry, Ophthalmology, and Oral Surgery. The Operating Room is staffed 24/7. Pre-Op Holding (POH) is staffed Monday through Friday from 0530-1930 and on-call Saturday and Sunday 0645-1500. The Main PACU is a 24 bed unit, staffed 24/7 with call to accommodate surgeries. Essential Functions Provides direct patient care, evaluates outcomes, consults with other specialists as required and adjusts nursing care processes as indicated to ensure safe patient care. Writes or obtains initial nursing histories, assesses patients' conditions and develops individual care plans; maintains patient documentation. Receives and reviews preceding shift reports and floor nurse reports; makes complete rounds of all units, and notes patients' condition. Notifies appropriate physician regarding any unusual or unexpected events or problems requiring direct physician consultation. Works with other members of the interdisciplinary patient care team, implements and reinforces patient instructional needs with patient and family offering informational material and pointing out special areas of concern. Evaluates outcomes of patient care, consults with other specialists as needed and adjusts nursing care processes as necessary to ensure optimal patient care. Identifies and resolves workplace health and safety issues. P rovides appropriate, direct patient care utilizing appropriate aseptic techniques. Behavioral Health RN: Assesses psychological needs of patient and families upon referral from nursing/medical personnel, external programs, and facilities. EP-RN Specialist : Assists physicians with procedures such as pacemaker, implantable defibrillator placement, angiograms, ablations, and other electrophysiology-based procedures; inserts cardiac catheters including central arterial/venous access catheters, performs catheter manipulation services. Operates and maintains all electrophysiology recording systems, stimulators and ablations systems, responsible for patient specimen testing, quality control and improvement. EP Coordinator: Oversees EP area and coordinates with Cardiac Cath Lab lead to better evaluate staffing and schedule needs, training required, materials management, and provides recommendations for efficiencies.
